Your Mindset Determines Your Success in Life.

‘What you think you become, what you feel you attract, what you can imagine you create’ – Buddha.

One of the many wonderful things about being human is that we have a creative function (memory and imagination). Thus, it is possible that it is your mindset, not your circumstance, that determines your success in life. Having over 20 years in business, Life Beyond numbers has helped many people overcome all sorts of financial and life circumstances, each time it started with one simple step, believing that they could. Oftentimes clients needed to be shown the path before the belief would come, and in our experience often it wasn’t their circumstances as much as their values, habits and mindset that was holding them back.

An interesting thing to observe is money, or time, or anything you want goes to those who value it and then with the right specialised knowledge and advice, it’s possible to harness such things to work for you. Before this can happen though, the individual must have some element of control over their outcomes – essentially you need to be aware and then control your thoughts. To achieve this, we must appreciate that we are not our mind. In truth, we have a mind – and that’s an important distinction. This is one of the first things you learn in meditation, and the first step in being aware of your conscious co-creation with your circumstances.

While understanding your mind is the first step in creating worthwhile goals and living your ideal life, there are a few other steps that need to be looked at to ensure a fertile mindset:

  1. Growth mindset

There’s a popular book by Carolyn Dweck called Mindset, that covers the two different types of mindsets, one is a fixed Mindset and the other is a growth Mindset. It’s imperative to have a growth mindset if you wish to achieve any worthwhile goal. Fix mindset people believe their circumstances define them and they are powerless to change it.

  2. Set aside thinking time

All this mental prosperity and planning is wonderful when you do it. Ensure you have time scheduled in your calendar to set aside in a quiet space and consider the type of life you want, which may be different to what you have now, still have a destination and then we work out how to get you there.

  3. Change your association

Birds of a feather flock together is the old adage that rings quite true, and if you look around and see few people in your life have the results that you’d like to have – it may be time to reconsider who has an impact and influence on your life. This does not mean to cut ties with family or friends, it only means to expand your sphere of influence to those who have the results in their lives that you seek. Simply put, connect with everyone but don’t take advice from someone you wouldn’t swap places with – look at their results, and ensure those who are influencing you have your ambition level or higher.

  4. Imagination, have the vision.

They say what you can see in your mind, you can hold in your hands, and visualisation has a powerful role to play here. Visualisation is often the first step towards belief for people. One of the best books on visualization is called Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz. It was written in the 1960s but is an excellent resource for understanding the connection.

  5. Seek help from people to get you there

Often it’s who you know that will help you most, so seek the right clarity and guidance for you. No man is an island, and creating a team of experts who care for your well being is a critical task, and just the beginning step towards a life you want.

At Life Beyond Numbers, we understand someone’s life is determined by their mindset,  it’s determined by their vision and what they’re willing to do to get the results they want, paired with sound advice and support from professionals.
